Well this is my first post to these forums lets see what happens.

Well to start this project comes from my desire for a computer as well as a remote control car. ok these 2 don't really mix but should be interesting to see what happens.

Well actually i have built a RX7 Computer before but was not happy with the performance of it while it looked good it lacked in speed both processor and video so this time out will be doing a full comp with a 3.0 Gig P4 in it as well as a Matrox Parhilia Vid Card so can do Triple Monitor off this thing.

:duh: yah almost forgot it will be watercooled as well.

i am starting with a 1/6th scale Hummer H2 which should give me lots of room to do what i need
    [IMG]
This is it before all the distruction
    [IMG]
Doors and Hood open so can access to everything with ease
    [IMG]
This is where the access for the motherboard and vid card will be
    [IMG]
This thing almost to nice to tear apart

well that is it for now so hey tell me what you think

and I will be posting more pics as i go.

    Thanks

The system sounded nice enough on i'ts own... then to go ahead and water cool it
what would REALLY be cool is if the car still operated normally afterwards :hip:

care to show some pics explaining how big it is... because looks a bit small to be doing a full system and watercooling....

looks like a really sweet project for sure!!! just make sure to keep teh car operational because thats always the problem with these :)

Yah actually i fogot to metion that i intend on keeping it fully operational.

Hard to tell in the pictures but to give an idea the table it is sitting on is 30in across

and as for living in a bar well sort of i run an internet cafe so do most of my work here but spend more time here then anywhere else.

Here's a teaser for the water cooling got the rad mounted in it so far.

A while back on [h]ardocp's forums a guy by the alias of project twin had a really nice log going about modding a rc chevy avalance into a pc - not with WC'ing but still he was like 70%+ done, but then he had other things in life kick in (military?) so he's left it dormant for a while

it was pretty cool, and this looks even more challenging :D

isn't that the front of the car? The seats are pointed forwards. Or do you meen fan in front of rad?

This should be cool. What about wireless keyboard/mouse/headphones, maybe monitors as well?
Then you could drive it around, and no one would think it was a pc. Also make caring to LAN parties a lot easier if you only have a 17" display you could put in your back pack

    Damn.

I was just discussing how someone could mount a shuttle onto an RC Big rig chassis :p

This is gonna so own, but are you trying to fry your poor passengers? Maybe simulate a 'Princess Diana' incident by burning your passengers with a hot radiator leak :p

I think it'd look better if you placed the fan on the other side of the rad. More "natural" look that way.

Specially if you got the rad painted black or chromed?

Not only would it look better, but apparently the most efficient way of cooling down a rad like that is to have th fan pulling air through it rather than blowing it towards... :D

That’s a sweet looking RC…Do you plan on interfacing the two, setting up servos controlled by the PC? That would be too cool…dump the RC controller and just use the computer.

This is your captian speaking... We will be processing at an altitude of 200 feet!

    Not bad!
I am also into rc but my nitro car engine causes the printer to glitch... maybe if I isolate the motor with rubber mounts....
Do you think a pc in a fully operational r/c plane will work if I have the mouse, monitor and keyboard running Bluetooth????
