    Hey Guys,

My gaming rig is running a i7 950, I was thinking of putting it's hardware in my third Lian Li C32b and buying a 980X for some 12 thread folding. I could then put a 2600K in the gaming rig as they are better for gaming.

My question, how well does the 980X fold?

    Very well :)

May be worth looking for a cheaper 970 or 980 rather than a 980x mind..

The i7 980X folds very well (as mentioned), and better than the i7 980 - I've got two of each :cooldude:

I can give you some figures here, I have a 980x clocked at 4.2Ghz it pulls 275w from the wall when folding

    Bigadv under linux
    p2684........45K ppd
    p6900/1.....60K ppd
    p6903........94K ppd
    p6904........90K ppd

I also have a 970 clocked the same and also produces the same ppd but needs more vcore and pulls 325w from the wall. personally I'd go for the 980, unless you can get a 980x at a resonable price.

Thanks for all the input guys, I've been eyeing up a few FleaBay 980X's they often sell around £380 ish, If I can pick one up at the right price I'll give this a go.
