    Sounds like MLC should be called BLC now.

    Or DLC. OH WAIT.

    I wonder what the performance hit will be. SLC NAND is quite a bit faster than MLC... so I assume there will be some sort of penalty to increasing the layers again. Certainly interesting though, and I look forward to higher capacities at the same price points for less-performance driven parts.

    Could explain why they're going for cheap SD cards and other non-performance-critical applications, rather than SSDs.

    You can't use TLC or triple-bit flash cells in an SSD - the lifespan and write performance will be atrocious.
    Looking forward to some 25nm MLC goodness though :)
