R.a.M - 0/08 Update.. More Door Polishing

Just got my new case, Coolermaster ATC S4000... Got it off e-bay, was under the impression that it was the extended version but upon opening the box i found out it wasn't. This was a bit of a downer as i have a triple rad from an asetek kit that i had intended to mount in the top of the case which aint possible now. Im ordering the new Swiftech H20 kit and am going to use the rad box off it to mount the Triple rad at the rear of the case, the double rad from the swiftech will now be mounted at the top of the case...

Plan is for the swiftech kit to cool the cpu n the asetek kit to cool the GPU n NB. Im not sure what spec the pc is gonna be yet, working on the case first n buy components later cause if i bought them now by the time the case is done they'd be old news, anyways i've a lovely black wavemaster with an A64 3500+ n 6800ultra to keep me happy for a while.

Some pics...

A few photos of the case..

Some sketchup ideas...

Plan is to have a piece of solid oak in the channel in the top of the case with a sheet of uv blue acrylic running through it, there will also be 2x120mm blow holes for the swiftec rad cut out. Haven't fully decided on the windows yet, will update as i do... Working on the front panel at the mo..

Close up of the wood..

Also, incase ur wondering where R.A.M came from, they're my initials..

Didn't like the coolermaster logo on the machined alu bits so sanded them down, they look alot better, nice shine off them.. Might get a fine wet n dry paper tomorrow n go over them again.

Back on track...

Im back, selling the car to buy a house.. o the fun. So while i save for a deposit im getting stuck into this case to relieve the boredom..

I've no hardware specs yet but have been getting together some WC gear, here's the spec so far..

Watercooling setup:
triple asetek waterchill rad
Alphacool NexXxoS Xtreme II
2 x Cape Coolplex 10 external
HDD Watercool Silentstar HD-Dual
Cathar Storm G5 Pure Silver CPU waterblock
2 x maze 4(chrome if i find some cash) gpu block w swiftech ramsinks(may change..)
2 x Laing DDC pump 12V Pro w plexi top
twinplex PRO Chipsatz

Cpu loop is gonna be 1/2" n the gfx/chipset/HD loop 3/8"...

While im waiting for most of the gear to arrive i've been working on a junction box for fans/leds/cathodes...

1st attempt

That was all well in good, had to cut out some support rails to get it to fit.. i've since ordered one of these to cool my HD's...

Which meant that my orig box wouldn't fit, time for plan 2...
Found a much smaller box in maplins, looks much better n is already black(colour scheme for the case)

Its much nice n fits in perefectly to the case.. will have two side by side.. The second is for leds etc.

My res's arrived in the post the other day so i mounted them.. There was already 2 holes in the rails that where perfectly placed to mount the res, just had to drill another 2 for the lower brackets.. The front of the case will be done in plexi so all this will be on display..

Sweet, I love CM ATC cases (next to SilverStone's cases, but those are from the same designers as the ATC)

Update 08 Feb

Got my Cathar Storm G5 in the post yesterday along with my pumps.. The pumps are missing there plexi tops which are on there way. Also have 2 x NV78's on the way.. guess i'll be getting some 7800's then..

Block when it arrived in the post, got it of E-bay in the states..

Not in the best of shape, base needed to be lapped.
Result..

Didn't go crazy on it as the silver is quite soft. Just got rid of the heavy scrapes..

The mounting plate had seen better days, the chrome like finish was scratched to bits so i turned it over. It was just roughly machined so i set to it with lots of water and sandpaper and T-cut.. The result is great, lovely finish, shiny but not too shiny..

After

The original side

Everything put back together..

This pic shows the finish i got from sanding n T-cut..

Oh, an a pic of my pumps n new camera that arrived today..

Been working on finishing my Workshop of horrors.. Tis nearly done.. keeping me occupied while im waiting for gear in the post...

Been polishing up some bits off my case.

These go in the top and bottom of the case..

U can see them in this pic, they have the coolermaster logo on them..

I've only polished one, still to do the other.. Actually still to finish the first, takes ages to do.. need to get some gear to get the finish i want.

Big difference, allot more visable in the flesh..

Plexi tops for the pumps arrived...

Started to work on the front panel, pics below of my setup n the bit im using on my dremel.. works quite well although a jigsaw is better for longer cuts as the blade on the dremel warps quite easily when its hot...

Will post up pics of the panel tomorrow as should ave it fin by then... today im catching up on a lot of sleep ZZzzzzz

New front panel is just done.. Not sure as to which way i will finally have it..

There's two sheets of acrylic there.. The power button is mounted to one n then there's a cut out in the other. Was planning on putting a custom badge in the cut out.. Not sure yet..

Thats how the final panel will look, no cd rom, no floppy etc. I may put an LCD screen up top.. But that can be added at a ltr date..

Want as little as possible on the front pannel so as u can see straight through the pc..

Got bored today n was looking at some other mod threads on the net, some have very good photography.. made me think i should put a bit more effort into mine.. Heres a couple of the waterblock.. (f)arty
