I had a little play on one the other day in PCworld (CODII) But, since i've never played on a Xbox, the controls were a little difficult to get used to. Nice looking though
PGR looks awesome tbh.

Yeah lol, it's a bit of a shame really as it means that graphically games aren't going to be able to get much better unless they find a way to really optimize it. Time to start work on xbox 3 me thinks!!!!

apparently many of the american boys who got their pre-orders early...have complaints about the machine.....apparently the machine bsod's(or the xbox's version)...its having problem with games and the harddrive.....ill think im gonna wait till more stocks come in and when the machines been out for a while.

you obviosly know little about console game development. the game isnt running at full resolution because they maxed out the system its because the code for the engine isnt even optimized for the system. developers didnt even get the final dev kits until august and before that only had alpha kits (25% of total power) and beta kits (60% of total power) to work with. the final system is totally custom built and very different from conventional systems. the GPU alone has technology that wont be common placed for atleast a year if not two. here is a link to a video interview about PGR3 and at the end they said very clearly that if given a few more months they could get the game running at 60fps no problem and once they finally got the final dev kits the programmers wanted to rewrite the code from scratch because there is so much unused power in the system still......

i garuntee that two years from now we see games that make PGR3, gears of war, and metal gear solid 4 look like crap.

oh and hello everyone! this is my first post and i look forward to posting here, i have indepth knowledge on all things consoles so ill mainly be posting in the console forum.

but yea i agree with other comment controls very sensitive takes wile to get used to

I really do like the looks of some of the games coming out at launch though I think I will hang fire till some time next year when the price may well end up being slightly lower.

I really would like to play kameo, PD:Z, and PGR3 though

I have no doubt that we will get games that look better on the Xbox 360. I also have no doubt that, given more time, the PGR boys could get PGR to 1280x720 with a decent framerate - just a shame they haven't got more time.

Gave the 360 a good auld play at i-series, spent a good 10 minutes on each game. I was taken-a-back by the clarity. DoA4 was amazing. Kept going the women with the skimpy number because her erm... eyes were just so life like. I also thought I was watching the King Kong movie trailer on one xbox, turned out to be a cut scene from the game, looked sublime.

I dunno...I work at Best Buy, and I was REALLY disapointed with it...the graphics suck and there is no AA going on. I was getting better Graphics on one of the Gaming Demo machines back in Computers than the 360. I mean sure it looks neat, and stunning, but its nothing all that revolutionary....atleast I don't want to buy one anyway....

Just one question: Is there that much of a difference between Gears of War and Unreal Engine 3.0 based games? I mean... the screenshots of GoW and PGR3 rock but didn't we nearly crap ourselves when we first saw UE3.0? So what's the big difference?
Except the fact UE3.0 based games won't launch before '07?

I've played COD2 a couple times on the kiosks at the EB stores in the US and the AA definitely wasn't there. That was actually the number one thing that disappointed me with the console. I had played the COD2 demo on my PC (6800 vanilla with extra pipelines and shader unlocked) and was really hoping to be impressed by the demo on the Xbox360 kiosk. Sadly, I wasn't. As far as the AA being 4x goes, anandtech has this to say:

I don't really understand what they mean by "free". Perhaps someone here could help clear that up for me. But, either way, it REALLY didn't seem like there was much AA going on at all. The jaggies were extremely apparent and I had really hoped for more. Perhaps the Kiosks aren't using final units, but they were introduced relatively recently so I'd be fairly surprised if they weren't. I've got a copy of PGR3 sitting here on my desk as it was preordered months ago with my Xbox360 and I'm really interested to see what the real deal is. Unfortunately, I won't be getting my console until well after the holidays due to this preorder shortage nonsense and I'm quite disgrunteld about it.

I actually believe that the consoles 4x AA has been pushed down to 2x AA (free of course). I cant remember if its on all games or just a few like PGR. But to awnser the guy above me, they added a small chip (was it ram?) that handles the AA so the videocard doesnt have to process it. Its called free because it doesnt bog down the GPU.

To comment on the system, i wish i could play at a kiosk, but all the wal-marts i've been too have had there kiosks die. I can comment that it was far less breathtaking than i thought it would of been. I've seen stock shots from games, and then actual screencaps taken from the system. Not that impressive, and COD2 isnt quite near a high-end PC.
