If your wife is also sported with an Apple, than simply use iChat. Otherwise you can use the Skype, which supports also Video (Version 2.x).

Only seems to be http://www.mercury.to/ that you can use video over MSN. Skype is only upto 1.4 on Mac =/

The skype version for mac doesn't support video, theres amsn which does video but the program runs incredibly slow. I've used mercury before which was mentioned above by Tarff, thats probably your best bet, although thats still abit slow.

newest version of AIM does not work on a MBP as it doesn't have a PPC processor (or at least I have issues getting it to work)

iChat would be my first choice, but since you wife lacks a mac, it makes it not feasible.

i'm not to familiar with all the annoying other messengers (I tend to use iChat in mac and gaim on windows or linux)

other options include loading windows onto a small partition on your MBP specifically so you can run MSN etc (i believe boot camp provides a driver for iSight, but don't take me on that one, as I've not played with it)

or buying your wife a powerbook, or mac mini
