It appears to be a bit of a non statement to me. He confuses everyone a bit, then just says that Nvidia are going to kick ass no matter where the market goes. All fairly standard stuff.
I think you're right Brett, I think he's playing his cards close to his Chest. Nvidia don't seem like the sort of company to let something like this lying down. |

I couldnt imagine Nvidia tying (or allowing) themselves to a CPU. Reason being that if radical changes in the cpu architecture are required (as more often than not) then that would undoubtedly have a knock on effect for the GPU. And if the two companies didnt share the same business drive in a certain area, could cause a huge problem.
I'm not a hardware guru, but i would have thought the better/safer option is to keep the hardware as is -- i.e., separate GPU from CPU and allow a proper interface (via PCI-E, etc) so the two can communicate. Maybe Nvidia and "some CPU company" could work closer together and come up with better strategies on bettering the integration of their products with one another, but i wouldnt think merging the two xPU's into one would be a smart idea. It's like the code world -- too much high coupling and you're fuct if you need to change one tiny aspect somewhere Best to use interfaces.

I don't think he really was making an announcement.
I think all he was saying is that they'll keep doing what they're doing, which is designing greaphics processors, and if GPUs get merged into a CPU, they'll design the GPU counterpart of it. Or at least, that's what he sounded like he was implying. |

So we're gonna be seeing Intel powered iMac kitten rocket boots...when? Or did I just miss the whole point?
