It was on the news here today... They said it were Sony branded batteries. Serious loss for Dell tough.

Yeah, thats pretty damn scary. Hard to believe no one has gotten seriously injured or died do to these faulty batteries igniting.

P.S. This was all over the radio yesterday.

Doh! We've got around a dozen Dells here that were purchased since 2004, so will have to check out their serial numbers soon.

Though I'd rather watch one explode than spend time shipping them off...

EDIT: Just checked out the site and the model numbers and it looks like we're OK.

I think it's a bit misleading, as I belive HP, Gateway, and a few other companies use the Sony batteries as well. Dell's taking the spotlight though (and I'm not thrilled either as we've got close to 200 laptops where I work this applies to)

So that's what the most recent Ubersoft comic is about

The link in the story only leads to the main forum page, by the way

good by dell

Yea i spent the better part of yesterday typing in serial #s on dell's site to make sure none of my company laptops were going to explode. after all the other numerous issues with dell's products this is the straw that broke the camel's back, i no longer buy from them. i know this isn't completely dell's fault but how do this many slip by and they don't notice? it makes me wonder if they know what product testing is.
