6 million being recalled? I don't think thats right guys - el reg has it at 1.8 million, Times Online agrees and actually I can't find a news site that says it was larger than the dell recall of 4.1 (largest ever consumer electronics recall in us history) or has it any different than 1.8.

It also looks like the oh so wonderful Apple are making a pigs ear of the recall:

6 million Sony batteries are being recalled - 1.8 million for Apple.

Story has been fixed.

Why would a MacBook (see news pic) explode? There's nothing wrong with their batteries. It's the previous iteration of Apple laptops that are effected...

i like how its sony batteries causing the competitions laptops to explode, not sony's .... yet

and an explosive battery could be an anti theft feature "sure go ahead take it, but just dont hold it...it might explode"

It hasnt been a good week for Apple, oh well. Thats a hell of a lot of batteries being recalled between Dell and Apple together. I just hope that Sony hasnt built the battery in my Asus Laptop And it looks like a bad year for Sony as well, with the PS3's price tag and now this, oh dear, could it be bye bye Sony?
