why are there still so many people on aol? sure, eight years ago it was the only game in town before cable internet came to my area, but whats the excuse now? i'm usually a pretty reasonable person but if i new anyone using aol i'd call em morons to their face.

People like simplicity, AOL is simple for people to use (if you don't do anything demanding, like using the internet)

Marketing and convenience. Bung a free CD in your drive and sign up. It's why you eat junk food, even though it costs more, doesn't do you any good, and tastes like ****.

First used AOL in 1996... or 7...possibly 8.. can't really remember. Even then, in my n00bishness, I thought, "This is crap", and never even gave AOhelL another thought for nearly 10 years.... until now, and my first thought now, after 10 years, is "It's still crap then".

'nuff said.

There, I edited it to be a little more precise. Hope you dont mind.

They have always been crap, even for free. Its a slow connection thats clogged up with all the crap that it has to load for itself. No person has any excuse to still use aol.

I first used aol as the means of getting online way back in 1994-5 when that was really the only thing around in our area that didnt crap out every 10 min. But i loathed the service, back when we paid per minute of use. Eventualy i talked my fater into getting a cable modem (round about the time Q3 came out ) ever sence then i have just used that but my father and sister still insist on loging into AOL for content.

ever sence they first put their software on cd it has installed scripts and programs it did not tell you about, and were a pain in the ass to remove. All of this is SOP at AOhelL and im just surprised these aligations havent been made more often.

Since first having the internet at home back in 1998 AOL was suggested to my parents but the installation screwed up (surprise surprise) so we went with Supanet and ever since I loathe people who use AOHell since I spend way too much time trying to reverse the damage AOL does to people's computers. I don't understand why people find AOL easy, imo it's 10 times harder to operate than installation other ISPs provide!

Lemme tell you, AOL + Norton = worst possible combination of internet and security!

i don't know what everyone is getting so worked up about, there has been a simple way to clean AOL off any windows system for years - Fdisk & Format!

Seriously though, AOL has always been a portal for techno-teething folks, riding on the success it made in the bad 'ol dial-up days of yore

"simply put this CD with FREE BONUS CONTENT in and let us take over your box...(Mwah-ha-ha-ha!)"
