Sony are REALLY starting to run out of ways to mess this console up, they've done them all! I'd be suprised if they sell half of what their predictions are.

As for me and pretty much all my friends, the Wii is the way to go!

forum link takes you back to the article rather than the thread

its funny cos my friend was arguing that sony have over 30 production plants blah blah blah and they can make all the consoles they need but they obviously cant

Could see this coming tbh. Especially since you guys reported the lack of BR diodes, and plus the fact they're only getting, what, 20% yield from the Cell wafers? And havn't they only just started manufacturing the final, retail units?

I'll not be buying a PS3 till 3-4 years down the line, and only if the price drops significantly. Would be great if I could pick up a couple of US models and eBay them - I'd be laughing!

As I said in the thread in the consoles forum about this..

What will it mean to the next gen "DVD" wars. Will this hinder the sucess or BD-Rom and allow HD-DVD to have a wider up-take or will it have no affect at all.
Personally im backing HD-DVD anyway but thats another story

Another case of Sony giving the shaft to EU as always? Nothing new there it seems. (I hear from time to time they tend to do so anyways)

Thats complete bs on the europe front. If they can make it for Japan and USA for November they can make it for Europe too, its just a numbers game and they don't want to disappoint their "major territories"..even tho europe is populated with billions!! I assume the consoles are being made in japan anyways and being shipped out to usa and europe. They just lost a faithful customer who has a PS1, PS2, PSP and had already arranged a preorder on the PS3!! Well done Sony , off to get an xbox 360 and fight night until the Wii comes out when i will see it on.

Typical. Sony have, frankly, royalled this. If there was any shred of hope for the PS3, it just died tbh.

Well its better they delay it so we get a fully working model in March after USA and Japan consumers suffer with all the bugs and faults. Im happy to wait until march. Gives me more time to save up for a 50" HD Plasma TV ready for it

I cant believe the inpatients of people these days. It ill be ready when its ready.

Inpatients as opposed to outpatients presumably?

Between exploding batteries and being unable to make enough boxes (which they are going to make a loss on anyway) and keeping all your other products proprietary making them wholly unattractive to a majority of people you have got to ask who on earth is running Sony right now?

Just as well they have good high end products that they make some decent margin on or they really would be in trouble.

All I can say is, I wont be suprised when they delay the US launch aswell, the PS3 has turned into nothing but a PR nightmare and a gigantic blackhole that is sucking up the companies resources. I can forsee a good number of layoffs in the console department if the PS3 doesnt do anything but spectacular. It has just cost Sony way too much and on top of that, they wont see a return on it for at least 2-3 years.
