Could downloads finally hit Top 40 charts?

Downloads do affect the Top 40 charts. Remember how Crazy by Gnarls Barkley was the first single to reach #1 on downloads alone? I'm sure lots of other singles have got into the Top 40 on downloads alone too.

jezmck will become famous soon enough
The point is that now ALL (legal) downloads will count towards chart positions.
(Though I agree that the article title is misleading.)

Does anyone still care about the Top 40 now anyway? I thought it was proven nobody does when Top of the Pops finished.

this is true, it did reach number one and stayed there for about 7 weeks, and it was out about 3 weeks on download before it was available in shops, good song though

In Germany there are charts for downloaded music... but to be honest it's so frustrating to take a look at German charts. Tokio Hotel all over it. Who really cares about it? I stopped listening to chart's music with like 14 anyways.

The only Top 40 worth looking at is the Album Charts.
