That's really about all there is to it. I get 10 weeks severance at full pay. Sux. Anybody in the US working for a company that is looking for Remedy (tm) developers?
sorry to hear that, did you know you were getting paid off or did you only find out on friday. at the company where i work you only know your out the door when you cant login to your computer, then shortly after security arrives to escort you out the door.
If the job is security sensitive, or you could cause substantial damage then that sounds just about right. I was laid off some years ago and left that very day with my redundency and a months pay in hand.
My mom got whacked after working at Best Buy for almost 10 years. She went through a recruiter (Robert Half, if I remember correctly) and got a job that pays 10k more a year. Might be worth it to go through a recruiter as well, perhaps?
Thanks guys - -finboz- .Found out friday at about 10:00am. The rumor mil had that there were going to be layofs on Friday, but it was assumed that our team was safe from impact. (Also, we only lock out accounts and escort people out when it's one person losing their job - I had a few hours to reply to emails that I wanted to and to get some phone numbers off my work machine while I packed up my stuff. -Padrejones- .Funny you mention that - RFI is the agency that got me this job in the first place back in 1999 -DXR_13KE- .Cost saving layoffs. This was round 1 of 3 that will happen between now and January.
its sad but true that most companies would rather pay you to sit in the house than risk having you in the workplace knowing your time there is over. i have seen it happen in my first job and the one i do at the moment, what it taught me was never to think you are any more than a number to these large companies.
Sorry to hear that - my uncle just got laid off from his job too. It seems like layoffs and outsourcing are all us Americans have to look forward too these days...
For what its worth I got laid off last year, my company went belly up in somewhat suspicious circumstances. Where one door closes though another opens, and I got myself a job I prefer. I even managed to take a small break to study which I was very pleased about, And a bit of a government payoff... we still have a little employment protection left in the UK... for now.
holy cra*..... dude... good luck on your next job. this Cost saving layoffs is a bunch of bull. this is the american way to make money? make the company smaller so it will grow? realy, this is almost hapening here, we are relatively safe from that, the major problem is that many of our companies end "belly up" and everyone is out of job and with months payment late and that people will never see. and the owner of the company flyes to Brazil with pockets full of cash, from the workers, and from tax evasions and money that was stolen from the governent. sorry for the off-topic, i just want to say that you are not alone, you and lots of people endure s*it like this or even worse, but the diference is that you will never quit and never say die! (i hope) all i can say now is: "Força!!!!! e boa sorte".
