hi popped in here 1 year ago looking for highland3r's bro for some help
and did not look around much but have been back here for a couple of days reading and found i like it here

you guys do some interesting work

so i thought i would share some of mine

my interests are phase cooling ,oc, networking

here is a cascade i am building at the moment

    First stage

    compressor: Danfoss SC21CLX
    Hx: 12 plate
    Danfoss tev: Tes2 00 orifice
    Receiver: RLV 02 PED 77*220 V=0,88l
    Condenser: 1,10kW
    Sight class 1/4 flare
    inline filter 1/4 flare

    second stage

    compressor: Danfoss SC18B
    Danfoss OUB1 oilsperator
    danfoss high pressure cut off
    LD mini condencer
henry pressure releif valve 24 bar
    spun drier/filter
    LD Evap

    refrigerant: R507/R23

    case by LD

    layout

all the mounting brackets made up so all the parts are fixed now

and most of the 1st stage

Nice to have you about mate, some awsome work mate looks really clean :D Can't wait to see some results from her :D

Can you give us a quick overview of what a cascade is, and how it differs from "normal" single stage units?

    sure thing

main difference between a cascade and a single phase unit like a vapchill is the temperature and cooling effect

in most cases its around double for a 2 stage cascade(2x compressors)
around -100c evaporator temp compared to that of a single stage unit

the unit i am building here will i hope have a evap temp of around -105c and
a load temp of around -90 when hooked up to cpu say a fx57@3.6

So the refigerant goes through both compressors? Its not split between them right?

The way I understand it (baz please correct me if its wrong) but the Cold side from one "loop" is used to "pre-cool" the gas in the "loop"

there are to stages and 2x refrigerants in this case r507 and r23

now r23 is a very high pressure gas and unusable with normal compressors like these unless it is first cooled

this brings the pressure of the r23 down to around 100 psi

1st stage compressor cools a heat exchanger to around -45c using r507 gas

then the 2nd stage compresses the r23 and sends it throw the heat exchanger (HX) cooling it and so keeping the pressure down

then the liquid r23 is sent off to the evap where it cools the cpu

    I am interested myself now

i have had to drop some of the bits i would have wanted to include with this unit as there just is not the space

it will depends now on how well the plated hx works

Depends on the internals cut on open see what it looks like. Should work quite well. I liek the idea want to see it run. I have been thinking about trying this out. My quesiton is how hard is it ($$$) to get 100% duty cycle compressors?

what a weekend the hole family have colds and all i wanted to do is get out
to my shed and start brazing but they kept finding resons to bug me

any ho Did a bit more today, it is getting real tight in here
I have tried to keep most of the hot, warm and UN insulated pipe work down
In the middle to bottom of the unit as I hope to have the most air flow there when finished

Just got the shut down switch to go in, the suction returns pipe work
    And controller

    Getting close now

Just gassed up the first stage with R507 and have the second stage leak testing
    With some nitrogen

Next job up is the evap and line set and gas second stage with R23

    Few more picks here
