How can you say Dead or Alive was bad! it was ... worse than that, it was shocking, but hey, soft porn for the masses :-) oh and the acting... well... the speaking of lines...well the sounds from a mouth.. was ... awesome! (im being sarcastic )

Doom was actually not a bad film, and the Rock did a decent job of holding it together .. shame it flopped

BloodRayne, a success!?!?!? its atrocious - i nearly died watching that film!

ah well -- back to waiting for AVP2 -- oooo yea! (no humans, just preditors V preditoralien cross.... suweeet!)

Psh, no mention of the Matrix, for shaaaame!
Granted the single player games it has spawned so far have been diabolical but that's more a product of the god-awful game studio than the material.
The Matrix Online, whilst a popular "I've never played it but I hate it anyway" choice, is a pretty good game. It takes the strengths of the film and builds on them and incorporates them, rather than attempting to rehash the storyline into something that fits a simple shoot-em-up game.

I can see 'goovies' (shouldn't it be gavies? Oh wait ... XD) getting better. The problem is that a game's 'storyline' doesn't make a good game storyline, and vice versa. But with games getting bigger, more involved and more intelligent, we should start to see the boundaries between them meld.

Someone should really make Half Life into a movie once they decide to finish the game series.

lol mario that was god-awful. how did anyone think a 2d man jumping on turtles would make a good film.

final fantasy is always a weird one for me, i have the film and while teh story isnt the best out there i do like to watch it for the phenominal cgi.. however what a waste of money it was to make

Half Life wouldn't make a very good movie: Who's going to see a movie where the protagonist never speaks? Besides which, the nature of the game makes it very hard to translate it to the big screen. You have only one established "character" in the first game, after all. The only way you can keep up interest is if you opened the game with the G-man being cryptic or something, and even then most would dismiss it as silly conspiracy movie.

...I wonder how the final boss battle would appear in a movie? Hopping around shooting at a giant fetus would make an interesting end fight indeed.

I think as games get more realistic there will be less need to transfer games into movies and we will always see movies into games. The need for good plots for games is a need so movies are a perfect place to start.

But the man point is that has are technology advances and games look more and more like cinematic scenes of the past, there will be less of a need for a gamers too see there fav game charter on screen.

P.S. Golden Eye was the best game ever for a movie turned game.

I am quite a fan of the Res evil movies myself and really Final Fantasy wasn't all that bad.
I remember the mario movie and have to agree it was terrible though.

you, know i'd alway hoped "goovies" would have turned out well from when i was about 10/12, playing final Doom on the ps2.. but then i thought Dolph Lundgren would probably end up playing Doom guy and if he did id never watch it.

as far as games come though, i've always wanted to see Max Payne goovied up! Filmed in a really Gritty, almost film noir style but with really washed out colour, that got more and more vibrant as he got closer to the drug V (valkyr) and has that truly disturbing part when Max is on that drug trip and the babies crying, and he runs down the halls that extend themselves and turn into a maze!

also, this guy would look ace as Max

I certainly hope not! It's an appalling word.

I see no mention of Dungeon Siege either which I think is another Boll film with Jason Stratham in the lead. Stratham is normally entertaining to watch (see him as a psycho monk in Mean Machine), and the rest of the cast is not too shabby either. Time will tell ofcourse...

Unfortunately I fear another "Resident Evil" with a lot of the action and suspense being negated through a piss poor story adaptation.

They're making a Max Payne movie, or, at least were discussing one.

I completely agree with Mortal Kombat (I think they're in the process of doing a third one), I found the first highly enjoyable and it actually fitted the game quite well, whereas the second is probably best forgotten - hopefully the third will be a bit better.

as to ideas for goovies (not sure about that word tbh, sounds too much like groovy) Dungeon Keeper would be interesting...

There are certainly a whole host of games that would seemingly make for excellent movies. Shadows of the Colossus, Zelda, Oblivion, Warcraft, Half-Life - the list could go on. In fact, I'd love to see some imaginative suggestions in the forum, the best of which will win a prize!
You seem to have missed the Blizzard have announced a "World of Warcraft Movie" (That is a Movie based in the Warcraft World at least), and are promising it won't be a "Goovie" but a proper cinematic experience. Time will tell...

As for Uwe Boll, I personally feel that man is destroying the Game>Movie scene all together. I'm still praying that the Far-Cry(2008), listed next to his name is a hoax.

As for Halo, Peter Jackson (& Weta) are still listed as being involved, however, PJ is producing & not directing (mores the shame.) However, it's been put on hold. (As already mentioned, somewhere.)

With Mortal Kombat: Devastation (2007), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Max Payne (IMDB Pro Only)(2007), Alien vs Predator 2(2007), in the pipeline, we who love Video Game Movies, have a lot to look forward to.

I was referring to the prospect of a System Shock game, rather than a new RE movie.

Any fan of the games knows the movies are mindless tripe. For movies, they aren't too bad, but to be related to the game requires an immagination circa C. S. Lewis.

Star Craft movie, anyone?? Mindless interplanetary violence. Should sure as hell beat the Dune movies (I'm aware they came from books primarily).

Hmm, personally I liked Aliens vs. Predator, acting was sorta iffy, and action was sorta short at time, but still, I liked it.

Wish they could make AvP3 (game) already, AvP2 is dying slowly

Would be cool to see a goovie about Metal Fatigue, there's just something about giant robots duking it out for survial only to be blown to bits by the superior Alien robots. never could finish the campaign for that game.

Movie versions of Metal Gear Solid, Max Payne, Gears Of War, Splinter Cell and Driver have all been confirmed somewhere along the line.

Driver got canned due to lack of interest, Splinter Cell was also canned for the reason I believe, but has since been resurrected with Clancy and John McLaughlin penning a movie ready for 2010, Gears Of War is still holding talks over movie rights, Metal Gear Solid is slated for a 2008 release although no script has been confirmed, and Max Payne (the most likely of the films I have mentioned) is shooting in secret I believe and is set for a release this time next year.

However, Prince Of Persia is the furthest along the production line as far as I can see, and despite a 2008 release, I think it's going to be requiring some serious special effects/digital wizardry.

There are other movies rumoured and planned all over, just a case of keeping your eyes peeled (IMDB is a daily visit for me btw)
