HD-DVD's DRM encryption hacked!
Apparently, some guy's already been able to crack HD-DVD's encryption within a couple of days! So much for being impossible to hack then! Quoted from the doom9 forums:

HD-DVD has even less chance of becoming mainstream now, the studios won't take it up, he shoulda sat on it for longer

It's only because BRDVD drives are so expensive that they haven't got into the hands of those who look into this kind of thing and I doubt BR media is much different. Give it another 6 months and that'll be cracked too. As it is, all HD content is freely avaliable on the net already if you know where to look, they've already failed. |

Well currently the Keys are encrypted on the Discs, if you look at engadget they do a comparisson between the encrypted and the un-encrypted file, theres about 10 differences.
But no-one has got video proof of it working, independant that is. |
