/me votes yes!

I long for the day when they realise DRM does not work and give up on it.

Do you believe we'll ever see the day when we can finally say goodbye to DRM for good?
No.

Because the archaic, greedy ****ards of the world aren't quite dead yet.

When these idiots catch up with the rest of us, we'll be in front already. As long as the greed, stupidity and obnoxious attitude of the RIAA et al exists, we (the consumers) shall be plagued by it.

And if not DRM, it'll be something else.

AllOfMP3 aren't pirates, they're pioneers. Give it 2-3 years and someone else will sit there and think, "Hang on, that's what people actually want!". Cue a couple of large e-tailers (backed-up by some superstars) who'll decide they want to launch something similar, and you'll see the RIAA change their outlook overnight.

Unless the business model is similar to AllOfMp3 in terms of variable quality, encoding, and price. Purchase downloads just will not take off.
As it is right now 99p/song or £7.99 an album for a digital purchase is extortionate. You can go to the shop and buy the real thing for that, heck you don't even have to leave your own home if you order from the internet.

I posted an article over in SD about Apple being sued for using their DRM to restrict music from iTunes to their players. If they lose this suit it will greatly undermine the real rationale for DRM and make it less attractive.
