Cheap! But who in their right mind would have one? Kodak don't do "quality".
The only positive suggestion from this story, is that it could (and probably shall) spark a price war. Nothing beats a good Fuji lab (on quality OR price). |

I'm really sorry but this kinda reads like an advert. Plus isn't TrustedReviews more the sort of place for printer stuff?

Frankly, bargain!
True, it still wonder be proper lab quality stuff, but as the big camera phone revolution showed us; quality isnt everything. Factoid: There have been more camera phones sold in about 3 years than there have been 'proper' cameras in about 200 years.

Glad to hear this, printer cartridges can be horribly expensive, Lexmark probably being the worst of the bunch, it can actually be cheaper to buy of of thier low end printer that comes with the cartridges than it is to buy a full new set.

Why is this news again? The brand-name ink for my canon is $10 for black and $15 for colour. Has been for the past year and a half.

As for cheap Kodak printers, I don't think I'll be buying one. I have my Canon Pixma for printing quality photo prints, and my laser printer for printing quality documents.

I print so little (and the air is so dry here) that my ink cartridges dry out when I've only used them a couple of times. The last time I even had an inkjet connected was a few years ago. What I'm really wanting is quality colour laser printers at a good price - until then I won't be interested in printers.

I hate printers I use them so infrequently that every time I need to use mine I have to replace the heads as the ink has dried solid through the entire system. I want a cheap colour laser printer to be produced with cheap toner cartridges.

I just went out and bought Vivera inks for my HP printer, and at wholesale prices it cost me $40 for a package including two black inks and a color ink. It was an $80 printer with a card reader, flatbed scanner, PC-less printing, and 22 black PPM. Honestly, this Kodak entry is nice because between them, Konica Minolta, and AGFA, they nearly make up the entire professional market, but it seems a bit late in the game. 3 years ago, before cartridge economics became a big focus, I believe they could have made a killing. In the end, it will probably all come down to how well they market it. And Kodak tend to have very impressive marketing. |

I'm happy with my Canon multifunction. A pigment black, and dye black, cyan, magenta, yellow for $14 each or 4 for $43. $10 off coupons for the office supply stores make it even sweeter.
A price war? Doubtful. Maybe in the smaller 4x6 printer market, but I don't think those sell as well as multifunctions or photo printers these days.

![]() Like how £5 would be a no brainer and a 1:1 price conversion, considering the exchange rate, but £10 seems quite a bit more expensive and a more realistic price considering rip off Britain. |

I'm holding out for a networked color inkjet that does 19x19 and has good linux drivers. Done with small, cheap color printers.
