btw it's supposed to be about the same price as an AB9 , so that's about £80-85.
edit: now listed at a couple of etailers for £71 incl. VAT

It's a bit strange that it's Fatal1ty branded - I thought that was reserved for uber gaming boards, not budget boards with integrated GPUs. Could make a very solid HTPC, though does the integrated GPU have the features and/or the grunt to handle HD content? i.e. is it Avivo compatible?

The Abit site says it has Avivo.

I find their prejudice amusing.

I wonder if we'll ever get an overclockable m-atx board.

Lo!
I may have got the wrong end of the stick, what with my terminal in-ability to pay attention for more than 2 minutes at a time, but did Fatal1ty boards not start out as really top of the range boards, with everything including the kitchen sink with LED's on the bottom thrown in, and a price tag to match?? When did they start being the lower end of the teen-n00b wanna-be-gamer-aimed-at board?? I'm not complaining about this, as I dont give a monkies, just wondered.

edit. The capacitor thing is a lil ammusing as its more or less at random. Some of caps that the japanise make are good quality, but there are just as many manufacturers who sell stuff that is crap. Would make more sense if they gave the brand name so you could know who made them, and if they are as good as they say. hehe

There was a previous issue many years ago about manufacturers using cheap Chinese caps that subsequently leaked or exploded causing mass recalls, hense it's now a selling point to highlight the fact they are using more expensive Japanese caps.

Understood but I don't think Japan and China are the only two countries in which these are made. I like JazX101's idea of giving a brand name instead of a country of manufacture.

i think its namely because a while ago someone stole the prototype formula for electrolyte in capacitors, and most companies started using it, probably because its cheaper

then it was found out that after a long time hydrogen develops, and the capacitors bulge, then burst (often causing explosions)
High quality Japanese capacitors do not use this, and do not suffer as such

I do agree that the Fatal1ty brand has been top end. But they are also trying to appeal to a growing market of younger kids wanting to do more pc gaming. What's your average 14 year old gonna be able to afford? This looks like a good starting board for a young gamer to drool over so that he can then be hooked on the brand name instead of just wishing he could afford it one day when he is older.

True, though the concept of being able to afford a gaming system, however pants it is, at 14 is something that just boggles my mind! Being 20 and what have you, I recall that the age of 14 ment that £50 was a fortune, and that anything over £10 was vacuumed into the expance of things that I seemed to aquire, for mostly unknown reasons but more importantly, reasons that were so fleeting that as soon as I'd got item-X I was bored of it already. And really skint once again.
Seeing as the lack of socialising twixt me and members of current said age group (14 for those of you not following my rant properly: PAY ATTENTION; and me when I read this again and wonder what I was on about) if they do have this level of money, it should be removed from them, and given to me, who currently has not enough money to start my mod. Reet, I'm going to bed, then I shall think about editing this ludicrus post in the morning.

I agree with what you are saying, but these are they days of 13 year olds with cell phones and Hollister here. Not exactly how me and you grew up.

Well, the new 650i FP-IN9 SLI mobo is ~£80 too.
I guess that they have decided that more people with only £80 (i.e. teenagers) are going to be swayed by the Fatal1ty endorsement than those with £150 (adults). Probably the MAX boards are positioned as the high-end boards again.

presumably you mean for C2D as we already have a very good oc mATX for AM2 in the nF-M2 nView?
