bit & pieces only - I was hoping for a full game with an immersive environment, complete storyline, and engaging NPCs. But since they're doing this instead, I wonder how this would work as an MMO. So, still no reason for me to buy an XBox.

Wing Commander was the first game I ever bought, and the first I ever played on a computer I owned. I had people lined up to come and play it on my Amiga 1200.

Those were the days!

did a web search, saw the vid clip, agree totally: It looks someone made an arcade shooter with a space theme and then tagged it with the Wing Commander name.

I wanted the "in the cockpit view" with the hands moving the joystick on the screen - that added touch put me into the cockpit of the original. That plus every ship was different inside.

Those were indeed the days

Idea sounds great, having seen the screenshots, not so sure!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I heard. If you want a true "remaster" of sorts for Wing Commander, check this out. It's a stand-alone total conversion mod for the game Freespace 2, based around Wing Commander. They've only released the Prologue, but another release is set for about a month or so from now.

Note: I'm not a part of this mod's development. I'm just a fan spreading the word.
