It seems like a complete waste of resources at M$ all those software engineers could be put to use patching up the holes in XP/Vista itself rather than a second party application

At least it's all one colour scheme now

I haven't used O.E. or Outlook for more than five years now anyway.

So it deletes your email right? Symantecs Corpeate AV had a fully fledged back door in it to allow remote code execution, Sophos has had many the same faults, as have many other AVs - so erm? this really is not so bad.

There was a considerably worse bug in Firefox 1.5;
Quote:
When creating a new profile and selecting the 'choose folder' option, the folder treeview points to 'My Documents' and not to the proposed folder, %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomstring.pr ofilename.

This is bad because
...
2. pointing to 'My Documents' in the treeview could make some users select this folder as their profilefolder, perhaps because people might think that 'My Documents' is the designated folder for that or if they just pressed the button ...
3. Actually selecting 'My Documents' could lead to very serious consequences, see bug 270705 (which won't be fixed...).

In fact, until now I've read about three people who lost their 'My Documents' folder that way... probably there are more...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Profile Manager
2.Create Profile -> Next -> Choose Folder
3. In the treeview 'My Documents' is selected instead of the proposed one.
don't make 4: create your profile there: You'll have serious troubles removing it from there afterwards without losing all other data in 'My Documents'

wow

both of these are pretty bad, although id read about this onecare issue on Saturday, it seems pretty harsh, and of course there's not a lot you can do ..
And yeah, i read that roundup, although microsoft's virus scan is still infantile, whereas many others have had a long time to perfect themselves
Of course i don't know of another virus scanner doing this
