So is there a difference between running it on a DX9 card and running on a DX10 card?

We didn't get to see any DX9 content, but based on what I've seen of other DX10 games, the DX9 path won't be able to get close what is being rendered in DX10 without it being pig slow. We'll be having a profound look at DX9/DX10 differences as and when we get these games in-house.

Looks like great gameplay and great graphics together, can't be bad

On the other hand I just recently got myself the 7900 graphics card, that's obviously built around DX9 and probably not DX10 capable, is this going to be a problem with alot of the other games being released in the near future?

Its been a while since I eagerly awaited the arrival of an RTS game, but this looks and sounds great.

It's probably going to need Quad Core though like Supreme Commander, should you want all the trimming though?

Famous last article from Wil?

I remember seeing the demo video from Nvidia's website, just after the 8800 launch. Couldn't believe my eyes, during certain points. Took me a while to notice the seams on certain effects.

Truly awesome graphics. If they can pull off the gameplay and sound, this may be the game to finally get me playing strategies again.

Now to find £1000 for an upgrade

Looks really nice actually, the screens actually kind of remind me a bit of Operation: Flashpoint (no, I don't know why), which aint a bad thing. Nice to have a preview of a game only coming out in the spring, as oppose to 2 years time (damn you Spore for getting me so excited so soon!)

This is what is killing computer gaming.

How much for Vista and a video card upgrade to get DX10?
And I still have to buy the game. Great, thanks I will just toss my year old card out the window.

Thanks Microsoft.
That PS3 is starting to look better and better.

Or.... you could play it with the DX9 path (which I'm sure looks pretty amazing, if not on par with the DX10) until your next upgrade cycle.

What you're saying is effectively the same as moaning about a broadcaster starting to broadcast in HD alongside standard def and saying that it "forces" you to buy a brand new HDTV. So long as backwards compatibility is there, you're not losing out by using old hardware, you're just missing out on the extras that are there for the taking for those who choose to upgrade.

Some people will grumble about anything!

A more realistic looking C&C.

Though in my old age I find these kind of games ethically wrong, in the sense of keeping old wars modern. There's actually alot about games that bothers me as they did not in the past. I was seven years old when Doom came out and 10 when C&C did (I was religious in my playing time), needless to say these are not healthy games for kids, however pointing a finger at an entire nation of people from any age and saying: "these are our enemies" is just insane. Weather it's nameless terrorists, a long sought rival, or demonic hordes... "It's just not healthy"

^ I'm guessing most people will care less about the parties involved in the game, and more likely just focus on the gameplay.. .is it enjoyable or not, etc

I am not pissed about backwards compatibility, and I am not angry they used DX10.

I am angry because I bought a near top of the line video card less than a year ago and now have to do it again. What happened to Microsoft's 10 year lifecycle?

And I highly doubt the DX9 will look as good, if it did, what would be the point of Dx10.

Looks wicked and I like the sound of the resource management in the game.
Though I'm enjoying C&C3 atm but its about time the genre had a shakeup.

There's a typo too.
"Atmospherics, as you might have guessed, are crucial to the game and Massive is keen to drawn the player into the game not just through gameplay".
Should be 'draw' not 'drawn'.
