I have been waiting for 4x4/AM2 for a good while now (native quad-core: hell yeah!). Good to hear some news about it. I can't wait to see the specs (and the price!). I also can't wait for 65nm R650! Patience should pay off hopefully. Better watch out Nvidia and Intel. Heheheheeeeee

That's great to see, I was worried about AMD's future, but it looks as though the market will be properly competitive again later in the year and next year.

Since I just ordered my C2D E6600 this week, it won't affect me much as a direct consumer until sometime in late 2008 at the earliest, but it's always good to see the underdog getting a second wind and putting up a good fight

Meh, AMD has had 10 months since C2D to get something out to amuse me but they haven't even engrained the codenames into my brain yet. 65nm and 4x4 - not good enough. You would think they would want to say something substantial enough to delay my purchase of an Allendale. If I had the money and was in the market, I would have one yesterday, even if AMD had something NEXT MONTH. I'm sorry, I love AMD, but the only compelling products they have now is their 35W X2 3800 and high clock A64s.

Prices.. High or low?? They have to cut them to compete, but if they cut too deep, AMD will not heal that wound again. Sadly enough.. I so want one tho. And maybe try their new GPU too... If i can find a better control panel than the Catalyst. Gives me the serious creeps the way it is laid out atm.

I dont think they were ever out of it, just perhaps taken a little by surprise at just how good C2D turned out to be.

I find all the people proclaiming doom and companys going down in smoke to be rather interesting, given AMD was the underdog for most of its history and still grew steadily and its still in a better position today than it has been for a long time (OEM's actually buy there chips now, omg!)

I cant say it effects me too much one way or the other though, barring new processors coming out at 10x the power for 1/10 the cost I wont be looking at a new motherboard/processor till probably late 2008/early 2009, later if I think I can get away with it.

Hmm, that is a good thing then, Native Quad core for me.

clearly this is just cheating (adding another CPU to your motherboard) not only does it increase costs (2cpus) but power and heat as well!

It also doesnt seem to allow 4DIMMS per CPU - like opertons/xeons so what is the benifit of these over a PROPER SMP box?

I'll grant them that it does look very impressive, but maybe they should actually get round to launching something sometime soon ?

It's the same principal of their "4x4" FX70 system. Which is stupid because that's 2 CPUs with 2 cores so they should have named it 2x2.
