Project : GTR -X CANCELED X- sorry :'(

Hi all and wellcome to my first worklog !

I have done a lot of modding before
but I have never posted any worklog or pictures of my work.

INTRO

It’s called GTR (from the Ford Mustang GTR)
It will be constructed in 4 phases,
and it will of course be water-cooled (two loops)
It will be 63.8cm x 55cm x 22cm and made of MDF board and plexiglass.
BUT, sadly I don’t have to much money so it will take a wail before
beeing finished.

FIRST PHASE

This will be the upper part
Where the mobo, the pumps, radiators, reservoir… will be.

SECOND PHASE

This will be the lower part of the case,
Where the psu and the hdd will be.

THIRD PHASE

Will be when I paint the whole case
in orange, white and black.

FOURTH PHASE

Get all the hardware and assemble it.

For the hardware :
-evga 680i mobo
-intel core 2 duo quad
-two evga 8800 gtx in sli
-4gig corsair dominator ram
-one 1T hdd

for the water cooling :
-three 120 mm radiators
-one 2x80 mm radiator
-two laing pump ddc 1+ pump
-two aquacomputer aquatube

current status :

phase 1 : ~85%

PHASE 2 : 100%

overall : ~80%

THE DESIGN

So let’s start with some sketches :

The overall look of the case

Here you can see the back and where the reservoir will be situated, I will use 4 xlr connectors for the two 8800 gtx and 6 rca connectors for the buttons, the fans and two white ccfl .

The tube for the reservoir will be on the outside of the case, in the front I will put a lcd display.

and with a 22 inches lcd screen just for size comparision

Comments and questions are wellcome !!
The first update will come tomorrow.

I like the sloped front panel, that's the optimal location for VFD if the case is on the floor... Good luck with your project!

Looks very promising! Like the sketches, very cool design on the case, and fine solutions aswell.

Just a question: Dvd-ROM?

Good luck!

Thanx for the comment!
@ dj ovin : I prefeer to have the dvdrom on my desk(and i didn't get it in the design ) so it will be external (in the same theme as the case).

I couldn’t wait so here is the first update :

Update 1

Yesterday I went down to the town and i bought some mdf board for the front.
I glued them togather because the retailer didn’t have the right thickness !(ps sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, they were taken with my cellphone)

It was THE perfect day for modding, a sunny saturday.

when the glue dried I started to mill the ''U'' on the front .

Then I started to mill the fan hole, but just when I finished my mill broke .

After that I cut down the edge whit my new jigsaw, perfect !

Then it was time to eat so I toke a pause. After that I found my father’s camera and decided to use it .

Back to the garage I started with the other side, every thing started good but the blade went down 3 mm !!!!!!!

I will have to bondo that .
Then I started with the switch . I drilled a 20 mm hole on one side and a 30 mm hole on the other . PS I made a wrong measurement on the fan hole as you can see but I will fix that later

Now I have two identical holes for the switches !!!!

Put one of the bulgin switch to see if it fits .

Yeah , it’s perfect

Here you can see how it’s ends up, that’s all for today.

Next update will probably be in 4 days .

Cya !!

update 2

Hi all and thanx again for all the nice comments !

It's time for the next update, I said that it should be in 3 days
but I had time left this lunch so I worked a little .

UPDATE 2

I don't have so many pictures of the work, just the result.

I started to make the bottom panel, I cut an opening for the cables and the rest with my jigsaw, it ended up realy good.

Then I cut the hole for the window.

I put all the part together ,it starts to take shape, and now I'm happy !

Comments are wellcome.

cya !

Good luck with this mod! The design is looking really cool. If the result looks the same, then your case is a MEGA CASE!

filers = less airflow. depending on the filter you use. You might wanna consider not even using it unless you have carpet or pets. I have ceramic tile flooring all the house =D not as dusty as carpet
