OCZ Technology has announced that it bought PC Power & Cooling over the weekend, further adding to its prowess in PSUs.

Ive heard alot about how good PCP&C are, reliabilty etc, and i know first hand how good OCZ are, so the merger of 2 great companies can only be a good thing.

This might also bring PCP&C prices down...

To the author of the news bit:
The company is PC Power & Cooling (PCP&C) and not Power PC & Cooling (PPC&C) as listed in the article. |

I really hope that the quality of PCP&C branded PSUs doesn't go down. Damn things are built like a brick...heavy and seemingly indestructable but they're also fairly quiet at the same time.

Hopefully this means better availability of PCP&C products in other parts of the world - at the moment the only option seems to be ordering direct, which is a pain if you've bought a load of parts from local suppliers and then have to wait while your PSU clears customs.

AFAIK, EP-UK are the only PCP&C retailers in the UK...:
They have the 750 Silencer Quad for £ 242.50 inc. VAT and Del. Where as getting one from America (without Import Taxes) would be $254.50 |

Gotta concur . . .
Though it'll be nice that PC P&C gets more exposure and sales, I surely hope it doesn't come at the expense of the quality for which they've become famous. At one point, I had one of their 510-watt models running a rig at 650 watts without so much as a flicker - you just can't beat their stuff. Sure hope it stays that way . . .

I hope nothing changes more than who owns it. They have a 5 year warranty and mine isn't up yet. |

Things like warranties are always valid until the company goes bust - and they're a long way from that!
To be honest I can see this being good for both companies, PCP&C have the quality already, but could do with some marketing clout, coupled with the parts bin of OCZ to help them make a modular PSU, it could be a great move. OCZ just need to tick along with PCP&C in tow, touting an ultra-premium brand to make a bit more cash.

heh pc power and cooling are one of the few brands that will run fine at there rated power outputs indefinatly. Hence the noisy fans though as they are designed to dissipate the full load heat. I hope OCZ brings some more advanced PWM tech so we can have cooler running quiter high quality power supplys instead of having to worry about reliability.

there was an OCZ rep on the ncix.com forums, he said that PC P&C will continue to "do what they've been doing", but would be taking advantage of OCZ distribution and customer support, so availability should increase.
