Fr4nk has yet to learn the way of the Dremel
R600 EK block

Just saw this on XS:

A double sided block, to cool the memory on the other side too, seems overkill but I suppose it could be necessary if pumping heavy volts through the memory...

Either way it still has one hell of a bling factor

Another great looking block from EK, wonder how much it'll cost though?

Cooling the memory's probably a good idea really - that way you don't have to have the obligatory fan + RAMsinks going on with your WC'd card for heavy OC's.

Trust me, it's not. I sat next to a Vadim for a few days a few weeks back which had two R600s in it and the DFI RD600 board in it. It had a fairly recent DD Maze block in it iirc and basically the thing wasn't at all stable in 3D because the memory was effectively uncooled apart from a thick heatspreader over it all, and you couldn't even put your fingers near it it was so hot. It REALLY does need the extra cooling.

The guys at Vadim didn't expect it to be so hot either, but I think they're now waiting for these EKs or something similar.

Yeah my X1900's memory is hot enough too, got the AC full coverage block which cools it nicely, also the EK R600 block weights 1.3kg! (Inc card) Though a chopped up cathode will solve that :P.
