Milk & Cereal

This might seem like a stupid question, but when did milk and cereal become popular together? Was it always marketed by the companies when the product was invented? Or was it just chosen by the customers as the best liquid to use?

 

Wouldn't it be a progression of milk+oats = porridge?

I just have rolled oats and milk. People think I'm weird.
Perhaps I am, but wait till you've tried it!

In the afternoon when there is no milk around, dry cereal reigns supreme in room B8 (my room!). There is nothing nicer than a good bowl of Frosties or Alpen and ice cold milk for breakfast.

Most people here have toast and chocolate spread for breakfast. Eugh!

Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with cranberries is the best cereal I've ever had.

 

Well, if you have tried cereal and water you'll understand why you need milk in it....

There is and will only ever be one cereal worth eating, Coco Pops, they "turn the milk brown"

 

Not a very convincing argument. I can think of many things that would turn your milk brown and i'm sure you wouldn't want to eat those.

 

I find milk absolutely disgusting but you cannot eat cereal without it.

 

BRAN FLAKES! They help prevent you getting bowel cancer, don'tchaknow? Actually, I like Fruit and Fibre a lot.

As awesome as that stuff is, it just isn't worth the trouble for me "a good clean out" if you know what i mean

 

That's a bit weird! You hate milk but happily munch on it with cereal.
