Tribute to [Holden] [E F I G J Y]

A friend and I were discussing the next mod I should do and I couldnt think of anything so he suggested 'Holden'...I thought why the hell not, I personally dont like the cars but I thought that for that reason alone I should attempt to do it....just needed a case.

So my friend gave an old case I modded for him a few years ago as he update to a newer case.

This is how the case started its life before it made its way to my workspace.

Pre modded by me a few years before.
The case isnt high quality but it was free so I wasnt complaining.

Started work on the fan grill and finished it...

At the time of this I was still unsure which model holden to base it all off, so I made a poll at the mod nation where i humbly reside and got the community input and with the help of them the Holden EFIGJY mod was born.

I cut out all my acrylic with a dremel and cutting bit.
I left one blank...

I cut out the front panel for the mesh (thats later on)

This is the process of slowly putting all the pieces together...

Adding LEDS and fitting everything.

Close Up.

This next pic is what the mod is based around, its the Holden EFIGJY, if you google it you can get a wealth of info on it.

So the original HOLDEN fan grill snapped, I used a sharp drill bit while drilling the screw holes and the ends of the acrylic exploded (forgot to use a blunt drill bit)
so I changed the new grill somewhat to this...

Revamped a plain Bulgin switch...

Painted the front panel pieces flat/matt black

Peeled back the Acrylic protector and added an effect to the Blood Red Acrylic for an even better effect.

Piecing completed parts together...

For the Feet, I went out the local hardware store (Bunnings) and picked up some screw in chair legs, black and chrome, perfect for my mod and fitted them...

Oh yeah...painted the case RED...added front 2x 80mm fan holes with U-Channel

Cut out the 120mm hole for better ventilation and added U-Channel

Began work on the top fan grill...
Holden Logo and with the remainder bent it over the opposite side of the panel...

The Holden Efigjy Side Panel Etch.

This is the car I was going to etch...printed in black and white and then reversed so I could get better detailing from the pic.

This side panel was done on the darkest tint i could find. But in the end I stuffed it up and went for clear acrylic and got even more detail out of the pic.

Etching the Top Fan Grill
This pic is of the taco in the Efigjy, I thought it would look great along the opposite side of the panel.

Also added the effect on the grill, to really set the red off.

and here aswell.

Almost completed fron panel.

Youll see on the side of the front panel, the bubble acrylic tubing, I ended up adding 2 x red leds each side and lighting them up.

COMPLETED PICS...

So in the end I went from this...

To this...

Thnx for viewing

Awesome looking case.

How did you get that effect out of the plexi (the clouding I mean)?

SPQQKY is an unknown quantity at this point
Like it a lot. Only thing I was wondering is if that top grill that fold to the side of the case looks like it's just hanging there. Is it secured? It seems to be out too far and just hanging.

@clownfart..., the etching on the side panel is from behind but the top fan gril had to be in front because of the effect, and the fact that i bent the acrylic long before i decided to etch it, and thats only because i wasnt sure if i had etched it prior would the acrylic shatter or snap when i tried to bend it.

@cogitoergosum..., the clouding as you call it , is chrome film reversed on the back and it really brings out the red, but it would work on any color acrylic.

and thnx to everyone else for checking it out
