Google Earth gazes toward the sky

Stare out into the vastness of space right at your desk. Google Earth's newest version will allow you to explore constellations, planets and much more.

Obviously as the earth rotates the view above any location changes - does the software take this into account and give a real-time view? If so, can you still look at the virtual night sky even when it is daylight in the real world?

Does it or will it plot moving objects such as planets, comets, moons etc.? That would be pretty awesome!

Probably, everyone knows the US isn't run by earthlings anymore, well at least since the Roswell landings.

Maybe not flare, but it is clearly some sort of optical artifact caused, I would guess, by internal reflection within the lens. You can see what appears to be the support structure (struts and cables?) for part of a dish assembly.

That said, maybe it is the first image of a black helicopter taken from below? Run for the hills! Can anyone lend me a tinfoil hat?

It looks like the image was taken with a Newtonian telescope or something similar. The image shows the internal spider struts that hold the mirror assembly.

According to a possible developer,

The time slider is just for the Moon and Planet layers (or any other time-based kml layer that you've got active). For those two layers, the positions of those icons are set according to the time displayed on the time slider. If you press "Play" or move the slider, you can see how the positions of the Moon and planets change over time.
