Seconded. Then it's the kind or artwork that could hang on the wall in the nVidia reception area.

I think just a little more contrast would really bring out this shot.

Load the colour picture up in Paint.net or Photoshop. Copy the image to the second layer. Desaturate that layer (i.e. make it black-and-white). Then use the magic wand and eraser tool to rub out the bits in the black-and-white layer so that their coloured copies of the layer below become visible. Merge layers, save. Presto!

or load the colour copy in photoshop and use the pen tool(make sure you have it set to paths) to go around the part you want in colour copy it to another layer and set the original layer to blakc and white.

Akava: i'm still thinking if i should submit the 2nd or the 3rd version, i like them both

OleJ: the blue actually came out very strong due to me messing with the contrast and saturation of the picture, it's much more subtle on the original piece

Yeah yeah yeah, only because you don't want to reveal that the pasta spoon in your avatar is horridly stained.

That said, I like the idea but it's a little too saturated if you ask me. The blue being that blue bothers me, but I just loaded it into Photoshop to see what the effect of trying to bring that down a bit would be and didn't like that either. Oh well.

Seebul, the second attempt is the black and white with boosted contrast

I preffer the second attempt myself BUT more positive comments are coming back regarding the 3rd attempt, and you wanna win so maybe thats the better one to go for?

I would go for a more subtle blue. I thinks it's a tad too "neon" and kind of pops out of the color composition. If you just mute it 20% then it'll be a lot better.
Anyways I definetely think you should stick to having a little colour in the pic. It gives a good focus point
