Excellent composition and love the simple monochrome palette. Just a bit of a shame they're so obviously plastic cogs and focus is lost slightly towards the edges of the frame. These are minor niggles, though, and it's an excellent shot.

I like the GEARS! Nice shoot brother. Clean White gears with black background makes it look nice
Thanks.

I love the sharp contrast provided, but oddly I don't feel like the plastic gears "fit" the composition. There's something about plastic - how muddled it gets, the ever-so-slight translucency sucking up light - it makes the gears themselves look "soft" against the hard contrast. That makes the piece feel mismatched to me, like you're trying to give something a hard edge that it doesn't have.
I don't know how to say it any clearer, I realise that probably doesn't make all that much sense...but something about the image just doesn't feel "true", and I lack a way to describe it other than that it's the perfect image of the wrong subject. That being said, I like it a lot for the composition itself.

Exactly what I was trying to say too, Brett, but couldn't get the words so just stuck with "don't like plastic".

Thanks for the comments guys. I share your feelings about the plastic. When I had pre-visualized this image I had wanted to use metal cogs, but after taking apart a clock mechanism, there were no metal cogs in sight.
