China forms anti-piracy alliance

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/09...acy_alliance/1

A group of Chinese gaming companies have formed a new alliance, called OGAAP, to try and combat computer game piracy in China where game piracy is especially bad.

piracy is really bad in China, and i think that's why many people are still playing CS1.5 (another reason being most people i met have Geforce Mx400)

personally, i think it's a good thing. but i bet you it won't last long or has any effect to games piracy.

I made it my mission to find a legal Music Album in Beijing last year and I did succeed in my third and final week. I found a Legal Shakira album with the Sony label on it. It was the only Legal media I could find and it only cost double the price of the illegal CD's which worked out at about £2 I think at the time.

I tried to find a legal version of BF2 for my father in law so that we could play online when im back here in the UK. I could not find any legal games nevermind a legal BF2.

You can only buy illegal games, music and DVD's in China and it is a difficult taks if you want to stay legal. It is too big of a problem to suddenly change the ways of the Chinese people and making them buy legel media.

I wonder if its different in Shaghai as that is much richer and modern than Beijing. Maybe their are legal media's there.

This is like the Bush Administration arming terrorists and then going after them for being terrorists.

It is pirating, your playing without paying. Simple. Why do you think the Lineage 2 private server (Installer) that was on SourceForge was taken off?

Are we sure it is actually Crowd Control Productions (CCP) who are involved and not the chinese company they partnered with to launch the chinese server ?
