I'm not sure what you mean about the PSU. I have no idea if the rails were live or not. All I know is that they are no longer, as it is dead as a duck!
Yay for your girl.
Regarding the PSU. Most PSUs often have one of the power lines (240/110V) through one of the Heatsinks, making it "live", while the other is grounded. Therefore if you would put a piece of metall or your fingers on both of them while the PSU is running... ZAPP!! fried. You mean you didn't check this before you put that block on there?.. in that case you were lucky. Cooling a "live" heatsink can also make a short through the water line and damage other parts.
The PSU you used, do you remember what brand/model?

Nice work with the polishing

Damn... Never really thought of it like that... It makes good sence, and it might have been pure luck nothing more happened! And maybe the fact that the fluid was mostly non-conductive helped.

Just goes to show you learn every day!

The PSU is/was an Energon EPS-550w.

Just a small boring update.

Got the top and bottom of the reservoir done today!

A couple of pics of the drilled channels. Inlet and outlet.

Inlet - top:

Outlet - bottom:

Both in beautiful harmony:

Got the day off tomorrow, going to pick up the last of the X-mas presents, and scavenge for a couple of things for "The Catalyst"

Hope to be back thursday with a bit more!

C**P in a box...

I finally got around to mounting the waterblocks on my newly bought 780i!

CPU Block on:

NB/SB and Chipset on:

Only a small problem... The pc didn't boot - Well, the gfx fan just went 100% power, and stayed there... While I was pondering why, I saw small sparks from between the chipsetblock and the 2 resistors to the right of it...
And that was apparently the end of that board...

But fear not my little ones, I just got a great deal on a Zotac 790I Supreme with some nasty OCZ memory!

It works fine, and now I'm in the designfase of doing new waterblock for it. I shall return strongly soon, it's just cold as hell at the workshop, as they shut down the heat between xmas and newyears eve.

I shall leave you with a picture from X-mas eve... Fine lights, wrapped in snow!

Ouch! Sorry to hear you killed a board. It looked damned good, though.
Res is looking wild. What have you got planned for the center?

pOPe <- So do I m8... So do I!

Cheaps <- Not sure I understand what you mean, with "planned for the center"?

Could you by any chance mean what goes between the top and the bottom pieces?

If so, I'm making a copy of my old res, so I shall have 2 standing next to each other, on top of .... "The Catalyst" ... Running black liquid through 1, and purple through the other!

The Catalyst will be revealed soon!

ringo <- Ty sir, always nice with a pad on the back!

It's that time again.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but life and just general feelings of not knowing where to start, has left me down for a while.
But I made a 101 testbench for my stuff to sit on while modding the case and just for general modding, as it takes ages to pull it apart and putting it back together.

But I think I am back for the long run the next couple of weeks at least!

For starters, A little pic of a couple of things that are in the works:

The bottom for the dual res, the tops for dual res, dual pump top, and the chipset cooling block... All sitting on my very unique and beautyful testbench.

The testbench and the hardware in all it's glory:

Let's get to it. The dual pump top - baby pic.

Dual pump top - Milled:
And please remember, the edges that look torn, are not! It's just the protective film.

A better view of the angle:

And one for the road:

I had to figure out how to mount my radiators in the wooden frame I'm building, and after a lot of ideas, I came up with the solution I'm going with now.

There will be 4 pins mounted on the frame, for each radiator. Then you kind of just plug the radiators in on those pins. Kind of difficult to explain. A small pic to hopefully give an idea:

The little mouting pieces, glued on the rads:

I had to make a stencil to make sure they would sit exactly where I wanted them, when I glued them on. It kinda worked, they sit within 0,2 mm of where they are supposed to!

I think that's it for now. Unfortunately I havn't had time to test the pump top, as I forgot it at work...

If time is willing, I might get some more done tomorrow, and get to test it.

Ty very much Editor22!

I just found a small fabrication flaw in the pump top... No inlet hole!

Luckily that's a minor setback!

Should have time to stay late after work tomorrow, and get some stuff done!

Maybe that explains why I've never seen a w/c'd PSU. I always thought that would be a good idea, since that's one of 'last frontiers' of w/c'ing. That is, it's one of the only parts that needs a fan on it, even in a fully w/c'd box.

Just the same, Angel, please figure out how to do this, so I can steal the idea

This is awesome, keep it up!

fluxtatic <- Sorry, but I'm done with messing with PSU's for the time being! Sick and tired of them!

But on a different note, I almost finished the bottom for the dual reservoir today.

I know, I know, picture or it didn't happen!

In all it's glory, still sitting in the mill. Just threw in one of the bottom parts of the res itself, to give an idea how it will end up:

Did a quick assembly of one of the reservoirs, again, just to see how it will look... Still some holes missing, but not a long way to go on that.

That's it for today. Tomorrow I am occupied elsewhere, but wednesday should bring yet an update! Enjoy, and mod on!

Well, I promised you an update, and here it is!

I finished the setup for the dual reservoir, and the 2nd res.

The other that fits in there, is sitting beautifuly and doing it's job on the rig as we speak. So it's just a matter of disassemble, and assemble:

Got the last holes punched in the dual pump top:

And---- I got a great start on the Chipset block for the 790i:

Setup on a block for milling:

The paper on top, is just a 1/1 scale copy that I glued on to make it easier to cut it out before milling...

Somewhere in the proces:

End of the cnc-milling part - Still needs some work, hoping to get it done tomorrow!

Soooo... Until tomorrow, I shall bid thee farewell.

Attila <- Coming from you, that might be the greatest compliment I've ever received in here! With the mods you've acomplished, I doubt very much I can teach you anything!
But thanks a bunch sir!

Tomorrow is friday, and I should get some more done, and the cooling tower "The Catalyst" should be further on it's way!
