MSI P35 Diamond

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200..._p35_diamond/1

MSI's P35 Diamond features the same CircuPipe cooling system as the P35 Platinum, but comes with a few added features like a PCI-Express X-Fi, a SkyTel Skype card and DDR3 memory. Do these ingredients create a better board than the Platinum?

you can't use this motherboard without a graphic card?
some special fans in the circuit heatpipes would have been nice
quite much PCI slots are used if you trow everything in which is in the box

Is it just me or are most of the higher class motherboards coming short of expectations, and not worth it when you consider price?

I think they consentrated on the X38 instead

A lot of them are, yes... you just can't put a few flashing lights on the board and increase the price by 50 percent.

I think the problem for most high-end boards at the moment is making the choice between DDR2 and DDR3 - if you head into the realms of DDR3, you're going to be classed as expensive because that's exactly what DDR3 is. There's no way to get around that.

That's right, but P35 has a limitation where you cannot split the first 16 lanes into two eights. You have to run at full x16 bandwidth in the primary slot, unless you use a lane splitter (that's what Asus did on the Blitz).

16 from the northbridge, 6 from southbridge - 4 are used to the second slot, one is for the gigabit ethernet and one is for the marvell ide chipset.

So Crossfire data has to navigate and fill the DMI between NB and SB, unlike X38 which is all connected to the NB so the whole thing should be lower latency.
