Somone asked me a intresting question today, wondered what you guys/girls thought.

How are women represented in Buffy the Vampire Slayer? And give examples of how you know this.

It's all about ~~the benjamins~~ Joss Whedon. Personally I don't see it as a gender issue at all, and I've watched every episode of Buffy

It's SUCH a waste of your time regurgitating a load of other peoples' ideas and handing them in, actually think for yourself, you might be surprised at what you come up with.

I liked Faith, but have to admit having a thing for Willow!

Trivial and irrelevant fact - anybody remember the mobile company DX Communications? It had an email server called Willow; my m8 was netadmin and had a serious Buffy fixation!

Watch the very last episodes of the series, and the few concerned with the origin of the first slayer. It you can't work it out from the "author's messages" you have no hope.

There was this episode where Buffy turns vampire for a while (something to do with your worst nightmares coming true). I thought she looked kind of really hot like that. Is that wrong?

It's not just in Buffy, representation of women as strong and misunderstood figures is a common theme in Whedon's work. Just look at Serenity, which is the best example because it has many female characters. Women in his work are often depicted as mysterious, powerful creatures with a seductive and predatory element. Compare Innora, Faith, Buffy and Willow to Xander, Giles and Mal.

Willow is totally the hottest in buffy - followed quickly by buffy (and faith imo is a bit further down), but Willow totally lost my respect when she did Date Movie, I have not really looked at her the same again!

So Sarah Michelle Gellar for consistency, Faith for consitent hotness (but not SMG's level) then Willow for Cuteness personified followed by a slow downhill trip to Date Movie!
