[11/07] Stachybotrys Chartarum River
![]() Larger the better The blue river of mould winds its way through the decaying alien world. Been harvesting this lot for a couple weeks. Who can identify the contents?Shot: Canon EOS 20D + Canon 24-70L @ 58mm ISO200 20 seconds @ f/22 +1 EV Flash fired (for sharper edges) +2 FEC Processing: WB was adjusted to remove orange cast from tungsten light. Further desaturation of yellows required in selective colour layer. Mild sharpening using high pass filter technique. I'm off to wash my hands... again.

I presume it's cauliflower and a red snack pepper.
Good colors and composition. I like this one. And it sorta gives the sensation of a river running in a strange valley.

Thanks for positive responses, everyone.
![]() I keep looking at the shot however thinking despite it's plentiful contents and (imo) decent composition, it looks a little flat. Maybe need a bit more contrast? Might just be the deep DOF but I have some with shallower and there was too much lost in the foreground and background losing many elements of the decay. As for what's there: The background is a cauliflower head. There's also a couple of florets around the shot. The red in the centre is a chili pepper (quite hot actually). There's some orange and green pepper at the front Onion skin is the orange bit hanging off the cauliflower left centre More onion and some mushroom in the blue river Much of the black spots dotted around are ground coffee The rest is just gross growth. My house didn't smell too great yesterday. I'll get some shots of uploaded setup at some point. @OleJ: That's what I thought as well. Blue mould river running through it. I did try to capture it to look like a valley in a rock formation.

Uhh yeah, ummm. Did you notice any sentient species wandering around on it? That thing looks like it has it's own ecosystem!

Fantastic shot, it took me a while to figure out what it was (not what kind of food, just what the hell it was overall
) and if you were going for the look of a river flowing then you've done it very well. Can't really think of anything to fault, really like the colours from the PP too.
