Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2007/...uitar_hero_3/1

Guitar Hero III has landed and we've spent the last few days locked in our console room strumming away, emerging only to play Crysis and find new packets of crisps. What did we think of the game and how different is it to its predecessors? We let you know.

I've heard that the controller can be a bit temperamental which sucks, apparently opening it up and cleaning the contacts on the fret buttons helps. Don't know of a fix for the tilt though.

You don't get the encores on easy mode if I remember right from GH 1 and 2, only on medium and above.

I was playing this on Friday and I did get encores in Easy (don't know if you were disputing that).

I am a bit unhappy with the controller, the red button would stop working unless I actively pushed the neck into the body regularly and tilt is still too hard to activate in my opinion.

oh no, please dont say this about the wireless controler. My order from play just shipped this morning with the wireless guitar. I still have 5 weeks before im allowed to play it as its a prezzy from the wife. But now im going to be sat in doubt that it aint going to work well

I have played the demo to bits and I can now get 100% on all the songs and slowly working on Hard now. Im worried that Im going to be too used to the control pad by christmas that ill find the guitar hard to use.

Never played this type of game before and im loving it. Just wished Id picked up GT1 and 2 when they came out.

Anywho, good article all round, debating whether to get a 360, and if I do, I'd be more than likely to add this to the games.

I think I read somewhere in the review the single player didn't have encores, although that might have been my imagination

Perhaps the problems are to do with the break-away neck section?

The wireless PS2 model has worked great for me since I bought it, tis a shame they didn't release it with a USB dongle instead of a wireless PS2 joypad dongle so I could have used it on either PS2 or 360.

All the same, I think I'll stick with the wired 360 (which is plugged into a USB hub bolted down to my desk so I've no fear of pulling the 360 off the desk while trying to activate the star power)

The trick with the guitar (on the gh2 version at least, haven't got 3 yet) is to tilt the guitar slowly upwards. I'm guessing the tilt sensor inside is cheap, so spazzing your arm around will only make it shake around.

Oh I'm going to try it, successfully though? I doubt it, I'm doing quite well on GH2 on expert so far but not good enough to do that song.

I can struggle through Monkey Island theme tune on a banjo, but that’s it. Even that much is owed only to my hillbilly origins in the depths of rural Derbyshire.
Lies! There is no wrong way to play a banjo. Just flail wildly and you'll knock out a toe tapping tune any redneck would approve of. Positively worthy of a hootananny.

Only played GH a little, and it's nothing like playing real guitar tbh.

No much easier than a real guitar, it can still be very challenging though.
