Dell’s Crystal LCD monitor revealed

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/01...tor_revealed/1

Dell has been flaunting a sleek and sexy concept LCD monitor for some time now, but it looks like CES will be when Dell finally says it’s available to buy, as its specs have been leaked.

Am I missing something or from the last shot does it not just look like a regular monitor with a piece of glass strapped to the front and a funky stand?

One black monitor, plus one pane of glass, plus some super glue.... voila, result!

Maybe it looks better in the flesh.

That looks like a pretty hideous attempt at minimalist design.

IIRC it's got display port, touch controls and the usual stuff. It'd be nice if they made it without inbuilt speakers.

$1199 for a 22" screen? I think not. Even Apple doesn't have the nerve to overcharge by that much. Not to mention the complete impracticality for dual-display systems.

it doesn't even look nice, the monitor could at least have some curves on it, instead of being just a box. and the glass instead of having corners could be rounded.
I would be tempted to take the stand off, dig out the wall beind my desk and mount it so that the monitor is in the wall and the glass is flush with the wall. that might not look so bad.
anyone with too much money in their pocket want to give that a try?
