The Club

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2008/02/06/the_club/1

The Club is a radical departure from the norm for Bizarre Creations, the makers of Project Gotham Racing, but it's got us all different kinds of excited. Can this fusion of Tony Hawk and Gears of War actually manage to live up to the hype though?

Looks... interesting to say the least. The "Hunter Killer" mode sounds fun, I always loved playing "Mutant" on UT2004, but apparently I was the minority. It was always extremely difficult to find other players for this game mode. I guess most people prefer the boring death match instead.

Minor niggle...

The experience players have with The Clubdepends more on the gamers (needs a space after "The Club")

Interesting review. Wasn't there a HL2 mod somewhat similar to this a while back? Team based build and fight?

I do PC reviews wherever I can, but the terrible truth is that a lot of the games coming out on PC at the moment aren't really worth covering as much as some of the console games. Don't worry though - I have some PC titles incoming and some reviews already in the pipe. As always, if there's specific games that you want to see reviewed, just let me know via PM or email.

Excellent review, as always, Joe. I've briefly tried the demo on PS3 and I agree with your point on it being highly polished and playable. It's a different playing style - rather than concentrating on careful kills to progress, it's just an all out blat fest, taking as many out as you can along the way. I must admit to being a more meticulous player and found the taste of it not to my liking.

Could you mean Natural Selection?

http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns/

I know you said HL2, but I don't know of any for Source.

I might rent The Club, because Xbox 360 games are just too expensive... The only game that justified the $60 cost was Halo 3

Club is a interesting idea. I played the demo and liked the idea but its not a game for me. Its like playing the time trials in a racing game and I dont like them either.

But, im sure there are alot of gamers out there that would love this and Id say that this would be much better on PC as a trainer. Will help improve your accuracy and aim.

ah NS, th best HL mod there ever was, truely brilliant game....steam asnt worked for me for over a year now, and valve dont seem interested though, so there's no hope of me ever playing it again

The club looks like it might be good fun over a little network with some house-mates etc....might pick it up and see, pc version out yet?

for a minute I thought my souvenirs were blurry and that I had played the game on the PSX instead of the 3do, but looks like I was right !

That's some unforgivable reasoning.

Yet unfortunately true. At this time of the year it's often a choice between My Pony and Me on the PC or Devil May Cry 4 on the 360. I'm just one person at the end of the day (though I do have Andy's help) and I need to carefully decide where my efforts are best placed. Don't worry though, the drought has now ended and I have a slew of PC games inbound.

Like sins of a solar empire

Good news everyone *laughs uncontrollably realising the inadvertent futurama quote*

We've been asked to deliver a package to....no wait

The club is only £20 at GAME when bought with anything else, I don't know if this in store as well though.

I think I may pick this up, gonna check out the demo, anyone know how the final game compares?

EDIT: Wow that game is good fun, I think the demo pretty much shows how the single player is, but I've no idea how the hell you're supposed to get the insanely high score they ask for. I went through an entire race level keeping my multiplier and killing everyone I could see and I still wouldn't have gotten enough to beat the second difficulty mode. I'm guessing if you put it on a harder mode there are more people it kill.
