The N95 was a brick ! Sounds like this will be brick+1.

I love the features... and in some areas it kicks the iphone's butt, but it doesnt have the sleekness/usability that the iphone has. Plus it will be cheap... the N95 was practically free on new contracts over £35 a month.

Sigh... how hard is it to make a decent smart phone that is thin, fast, affordable, connectable, and usable. Every model I know fails in atleast one of those categories.

I got the N82 a couple of weeks ago and it has the same spec (excluding the 16GB internal mem) as the N96 but the main benifit of the N82 for me is the fact it is solid, no slide, flippy, flimsy feel to it just candy stick style, not a bad size either.
It is by far the best camera on a phone I have used as well.
Not to mention it was free on a £35 a month contract which i very much doubt the N96 will be.

Looking at the images showing the thickness and broadness of the phone, I'd hardly say it's the size of a brick. It looks slimmer than the N95, anyway and compare that with some of the early Nokia Communicators (which not only looked like a brick, were also about as heavy as one) it's like a slip of paper

What would you class as a brick? When I got my N95 I compared the size to the W810i I had before in depth height etc was the same only difference was the 2 black side bits which made it slightly wider.

So guess that makes w810i the same

I really like the Nokia phones but the strong web connectivity of the N96 only serves to highlight the lack of an MS document editor. It would be a great phone for working on the move otherwise (I hated lugging a whole laptop around when I was sent to London/Scotland).

I agree about the N95 being a brick. It's fine for putting in your bag or jacket pocket, but you wouldn't want to slip it in your trouser pockets if you're out without a bag/jacket at a nightclub/bar etc.

"Is that a N95 in your pocket are you just pleased to see me!??"

The N96 is even bigger, it seems:

There ain't never going to be a phone with the best features out there, along with the slimmest design. As soon as they shrink them down, they'll find more features to add to the next generation and hence bulk them out again.

Personally I'm waiting for a phone with about 20gb for music and photos, a 5mpx camera with flash and 3x optical zoom, an web browser and a GPS with Google maps. Yeah, I might be waiting for a few years I think...

anyone else apart from me worried about the fact that bit-tech is now making news reports on phones? I'm sorry, but this really isn't newsworthy information for a website that puts its focus on computer hardware, not gadgets.
