Vista SP1 delayed by drivers

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/02...d_by_drivers/1

The first service pack for Windows Vista was released to manufacturing last week, but is not yet available for download due to a problem whereby it can break certain drivers.

hmm I havent had any issues so far with RC1 aside from my Gigabyte Easy Tune not working properly but other then that I have had no driver issues so far. So the delay really depends more on the manufacture of those drivers and how long they take then M$ as its more of a we have to wait on them kind of thing... Well hopefully it will still come out by at least the end of March.

already installed SP1 v18000 (they say SP1 RTM is the same as RC2) and no problem at all.

shame those small manufactures don't get their drivers up to scratch. just look at my system, not a single small companies junk

According to one of the techs I was speaking to here, Toshiba is one of em, no surprises really when Toshibas laptop driver support for plain Vista has much to be desired!

Really? I've been running it on my Toshiba laptop for about 8 months now, and not had a single problem. And it's not even vista certified.

Mind you, each system to it's own problems I guess.

As for it being delayed, mid march isn't too bad (Unless I misread the article). At least they're taking the time to get it right before releasing it.

I installed the RTM on my Toshiba X200 laptop and its been fine so far.

Beleive its the older tosh laptops like some from the portage and tecra range, I know for a fact that when using vista on the older tosh's there was a number of issues, especialy with regards to gfx drivers, of which here there is now a patch/fix update called "Windows Vista Performance Optimizer" for a few of the tosh laptops, models that are still heavily used by 1000's of employees at MS.

More interest in XP SP3, though not much new here, to report.

I've noticed a huge improvement in transferring files and the boot time is much quicker, the progress bar only remains for three passes.

Installed SP1 on my work computer, and file saving and moving (work always from a central server) goes so much faster!
