PdfMeNot converts PDF to Flash

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/02...pdf_to_flash/1

The latest project from the guys who brought you BugMeNot is a system to convert PDF files into streamable Flash on the fly as a way around security issues in the format.

Is flash any better than pdf, arguably yes. Its much better than waiting for adobe reader to open however i think i prefer the pdf - html converters for most things.

It's a nice implementation but I doubt it will become very popular unless they came up with an embeddable applet for website creators, that would be useful.

Take a look at the Firefox extension PDF Download, it's already providing a solution to this problem. Also, the HTML output is selectable whereas it seems with PDFMeNot you can't select any text/content. Or can you?

Now I have moved to using Foxit reader, I am much happier with PDFs. They no longer take ages to open, they no longer crash Firefox and memory usage has been reduced. All in all, I am a very happy Foxit reader user.
