1 ton laptop
That got you interested didn't it. No its not about a laptop that weighs a ton but rather one that costs a ton.
The Elonex One, is set to be released in the UK at the low low price of £100, for that you get a gig of flash storage and a 7inch screen. Just dont expect Elonex.co.uk to respond that quickly atm, Engadet seems to have killed them. [via Engadget] |

That is so ugly I would pay the extra for an eeePC or similar.

Small is cool, but it's kind of a niche market. With that being said, I do want an EEE, but I'd have no use.

I was thinking about getting an Eee PC or something similar, just to take to school, would come in Handy.
However, that is just an atrocity.

At £100, this will be a modders dream. I reckon a 1.8" HDD or 32GB Flash drive will be a nice addition!

Urgh!
That looks like crap covered in crap sitting in a pool of liquid crap! And I thought the Eee was ugly. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for. I can't really see any use for it though. But, as someone else here pointed out; with a larger 1.8" drive or 32Gb of flash storage there might be hope for it yet. And that 7" screen is...just...horribly small - can't imagine working on something that small. Size matters people! *snicker*

Why have they put all the ports on the side of the screen rather than the side of the keyboard? Won't that make it top heavy?
And yes, that is truly fugly. If ever there was a need for the word "fugly", that is it. In evolutionary terms, this is the granddaddy of fugliness. And so on, and so forth.

it appears the keyboard is a dockable addon, like the HTC Advantage or Shift
http://ec.fontastic.com.tw/clients/s...213084909.html It has a "mouse emulator" on the back of the screen so I guess you can hold it like a tablet. I can see someone shoving in a 7" touchscreen for GREAT JUSTICE.

tbf taking the innards from that and putting them in a custom case would be a decent project and at £100 the only way you could to cheaper would be ebay.

Hold on a minute, I think my time machine works! It's quite obvious that we're now back in the early nineties judging by that laptop.

love my 12" Ibook, definitly the better choice in my opinion. (i've got mine new years ago and it still works fine, is faster and looks better than eeepc, or the piece of crap they call elonex one).

my laptop cost about 5.5 times more than that yet is probalbly about 50 times as powerful. A woeful try at a nicely priced laptop to be honest.
Hell, 300mhz processor will barely run facebook applications or modern flash! If they are gonna make one of these they might as well make them useful. Its a false economy product to be honest, £100 is a phenominal rip off for such a poor peice of hardware. Quote:
