my networks screwed !

I have two Pc's that both connect to the internet one is connects directly though a wired connected to a wireless speedtouch router/modem. the other connects via a usb linksys adaptor wirelessly about 3 hours ago the second pc lost its internet connection no matter what I try it refused to connect. I've tried several things the main information I keep getting is:

"The network did not assign a network address to the computer."

The signal strength is showing as excellent.

I'm also getting this msg;

"You are associated with the access point but the internet could not be found."

Both computers have been fully virus scanned and no threats were found also both machine have been restarted with no change and the router has been switched off for 2 minutes then restarted and also the pc and the router have been switched off at the same time and restarted I'm running out of ideas any help would be appreciated. I know this thread is kinda jumbled but so is my brain at this point.

1st rule of wireless networking: reboot the router. Usually sorts most things out..

EDIT ...Oops, just re-read the post, you've done it already.... not enough tea yet this morning!

Try turning off the WPA, ( I assume you are using WPA) and settting it to no security and see if it work's then. It could be todo with the security, happens at my work sometimes.

Try going into dos prompts, and typing "ipconfig /release" and then flick off the wireless and resart it. If it's not working at this point, try ipconfig /renew.

Works for some of the systems at work, so might be worth a shot.

It may also be worth reserving the two IP's for the two PC's you use, and then setting them manually.

You don't say which OS you're using - try running the Windows network setup wizard on the Wireless PC.

Sounds like your DHCP on the router is malfunctioning for whatever reason. Assigning a static IP address is probably the work-around but it doesn't really tackle the problem.

As daft as it sounds, try giving the router a rest. My router is a cheap no-name thing and it seems to require being switched off for 20-30 minutes every day, otherwise it won't connect to the internet.
