HP 2133 Eee-alike revealed

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/02...ike_revealed/1

Engadget claims to have received pictures of Hewlett Packard's new Eee PC killer, the 2133. If the images are real, it's looking mighty fine so far.

Looks good. I like the eeePC, but the screen is simply too small. Sounds like this is a better solution.

I suppose it depends how much it costs, if its much more expensive then your into full laptop territory, then it becomes a matter of do you need power and space or size.

I need a UMPC. But I also need something cheap. I reckon this will be about 600 quid minimum, so I'll grab an EEE PC 4G for £220 instead next month. Of course, if anybody has any other recommendations....

Does look pretty sweet alright, but what kind of name is 2133?

That's not catchy at all. We all know catchy names are half the battle - look at blu-ray vs hd-dvd!

The only thing keeping me from an eee-pc at the moment is the screen resolution which doesn't allow most website to be displayed correctly...al least 800x600 is a must.
Especially as the is a lot of room in the lid.

:-(

I like eePCs for their size(not the screen, though), but I really don't like buying from company's who throw a ton of working components together and call it the best, when their's usually a better way to make the PC go faster. As for screen size, yeah it's quite small and I have no idea what I could use it for, but as mentioned earlier, if they added a good resolution I would definitely go for it.

QFT. I would have bought one by now if it had a decent screen resolution

It's only an Eee-alike if it's two hundred quid.

If, like everything else that size, it's twelve hundred quid, it changes things not a jot.

If they get the price right, it looks to be an excellent value. While I've had historically awful luck with pretty much everything from HP, I could almost be persuaded. WXGA screen (1024x600 or something, right?) sounds like it's a good amount better than that of the eee, and GigE is a biggie for me.

I like the looks of it more, but if the price is a lot more, then it's just another expensive small laptop.

Yup. Not comparable at all. There's not going to be any true EeePC killer for a fair old while yet. And people forget, bigger screen = bigger laptop. This doesn't strike me as being massively different from other UMPC's that have been on the market for years, just slightly (but not a whole lot) cheaper.

It's not exactly a direct competitor to the eee is it, its better specced so its gonna cost more...
It may not be an eee killer but thats because its aiming for a less fisher price end of the market!

Like many other people are saying: the one thing stopping me buying an eeePC is the screen resolution.

I don't care what DPI the screen ends up, but i want 1024 pixels wide at absolute bare minimum!

This one looks like it will cost more than an eeePC, but as long as it isn't excessively more, i'm sold

It's a good start, but it's not cheap enough. I have to say though, it's very pretty.
