TF2 Framerate issues?

Let me preface this by saying I normally(up until today) get at least 40fps, usually its above 60. Today I came home and updated the game and now I am getting almost unplayable frame rates. I get 20-30 when no action is happening and about 10-20 when something is. This doesn't seem right because I was getting perfect buttery smooth fps from the time the game launched until now. The only other thing that has changed with my PC is I installed Audiosurf via steam. Anyone else had this problem or have a fix?

Specs?

Also check my old thread, that update apparently fixed problems my friend was having. Try portal and EP2 to see if things happen in there too.

Steam forums addressed the issue. Apparently the server software this patch increased the load on the CPU a great deal. This seems to be what is going on because lowering/raising settings did absolutely nothing for frame rate. Full AA/AF was no different than no AA/AF. Even reducing the resolution from 1280 x 1024 to 800 x 640 did change the frame rate and when I alt tabbed out it was using much more CPU and ram than it normally does. Guess I will just have to wait for them to fix it.
