boost wifi for house to summerhouse signal

basically... we have a summerhouse at the bottom of our garden... around a quarter of an acre i guess?
it'd be nice to use my wifi seeing as i now have a laptop with wifi...
i don't really want to change routers seeing as it's not mine and its provided by sky and we're not whiling to risk getting banned by using a hacked firmware/user details trick on another router.
so basically what I'm asking is what usb adapter could i get that will boost my wifi connectivity like some kinda mini satalite dish or something? i saw some on youtube - that'd be ideal if so.

any ideas? links please to uk sites if i have to purchase anything.
cheers people.

*Edit: Googleing "wifi can" has allot of home made results. so check that out see if you find any thing i didn't really look just glanced.

Whoah Whoah Whaoh! Before buying a new router or antenna, try this.

I'm usually a cynic of such homebrew solutions (as they don't usually work), but jesus, this one does. I managed to boost my signal strength by a good 30% in the direction the antenna was pointed.

Just don't rush putting it all together.

Yes but wouldnt that mean that if you wanted to get wifi in an area thats aimed away from the parabolic refletor youd have to move/remove the reflector.
Try using a usb wifi dongle attached to a deep fry thing found at asian stores making a wok fi like this http://www.usbwifi.orcon.net.nz/.

if the cantenna isn't enough, get another router running dd-wrt and put it in repeater mode

I've done that Windsurfer one before (there is a thread on the forum somewhere about it) and indeed it works! Just point it in the direction you want and hey presto. Although the easiest thing to do is to get a wireless repeater and stick it by a window somewhere, if there is nothing in between the repeating and summerhouse there shouldn't be a problem at all.
