Zalman ZM-FG1000 FPSGUN Gaming Mouse

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...gaming_mouse/1

It's a mouse designed to emulate the feel of a gun in FPS games and it isn't going to go down well with Jack Thompson. That aside, has Zalman created a decent peripheral that increases immersion, or just a shoddy piece of half-assed tech? Find out within!

from just looking at how you hold that thing put me straight off, its not really a mouse more of a joystick tbh. That thing would hurt after long periods of gaming lol thats if you can hit anything.

I'll be keeping my mouse for a while longer i think

All it needs is the Fatal1ty branding for an all expenses paid trip on the failboat.

Joe sadly omitted the image where I held the thing properly (as in upside down pistol style). It was much more fun that way, running around around the office making pew pew noses.

Yes I also felt that it was uncomfortable and way too small to make any impact.

And it is a whole habit change to get use it.

Also if you think about it, its like shooting from the hip, any cowboys around here?

..."though looking down to see what colour your mouse has changed to during gaming is akin to suicide on a busy, hostile map"

Well, this goes for all mice that allow this change. On Logitech's ist the amount of lighted led's, you still have to look down.
Right?

Don't see myself using it however, nice review!

The other issue is the order in which the sensitivity settings cycle; slow, medium, fast, slow, medium, fast, slow...etc. With mice that have LEDs indicating the sensitivity there are usually two buttons; more sensitive and less sensitive. Want to go fast, tap furiously on the more sensitive button, want to go slow? Tap on the other. On the FG1000 there is one, this makes you have to count your clicks and check your light to see if you are at the right setting. One click too many will give you a Diazapam induced mouse movement instead of a lightning fast one.

Could use some slightly better egronomics, and be a little higher to accomodate the whole hands.
Interesting concept.

Erm, it's a mouse review. Not much else I could write about without describing the box or dismantling it and listing the parts it's made of.
