Lionsgate DVDs to include portable video
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/03...rtable_video/1
Film studio Lionsgate Films has announced that it is to start including low-resolution duplicates of films on their DVD releases which can be transferred to iTunes and then to an iPod.

Pretty crap if you ask me. I hate having to scour the internet for programs to convert my DVDs to suitable formats for my MP3 player, so this should in theory be a good idea. But iPod only?! DRM is what kills the competition and this does nothing to support freer access of content or anything along those lines.

Yeah, some other studios have already been doing this. Most recently, Hitman was released as "Digital Copy". Eh, if you really need that, cool. I personally don't care for it, but it'd be nice if you're in a bind and really need some portable video.

I'll just continue to use iPod video converter software. Here's where I get mine: http://videoconverterreviews.com/category/dvd-to-ipod/
