Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2 drops in price
http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/03...ops_in_price/1
In less than a week since launch, Nvidia's GeForce 9800 GX2 has already dropped in price by almost 10 percent at some of the UK's top online retailers.

Interesting to see that Scan is always a little bit cheaper than overclockers these days. Used to be the opposite way round in the past to be honest.
I think DABS has lost its way with their prices, although they often have free delivery weekends on offer, so I guess thats a tenner saved if you want to wait the 3 days for delivery. Brand however is important to me, so kudos again to Scan for stocking the most brands. BFG Tech for the win in my book, but Im not in the market for this card. (Two 800 GTS 512's give equal performance for less money) . The 9800GTX is released March 25th, and Im curious to see how that one will perform (and cost) |

I smell many plans, Sell 8800GTX WC, buy 9800GX 2, wait for a Watercooled version and use the BFG trade up program

i predict we see more 9800Gx2 price drops, unless nVidia gets better drivers that enables this less than one week product to overtake one and half year old G80 GTX in SLi.

well just like their first attempt at a dual gpu card that flopped this for the most part flopped as well, the price to performance was horrid so they had no choice but to lower the price to make it remotely worth buying.

It could just be an indication of flat-lining demand for the product after the initial wave of hardcore enthusiast buyers. Or to prevent that from happening.

I really want to but one of these but I just cant justify spending $600 on a graphics card (no matter how good it is). -Indybird |

Even the cheapest price in the UK seems to be $750, so go ahead, turn the knife in the wound and then add some salt with your US-prices

Seems like a lazy soultion instead of devloping a new GPU just sticking two on the same card presumably by using an internal PCI-E bus and sli like they did before. They didn't even get it all on one PCB this time.
